Samuel Johnson's Character

According to the introduction of Samuel Johnson in the textbook, we can find that he is a perseverant person. Although he lost his sight in one eye from an infection, he didn’t give up his life or complain about his health conditions. Probably because of his an indomitable and optimistic person, his health improved and he developed a strong personality. If he thought that it was impossible for him to make or achieve something in his life, he wouldn’t have opportunity to be a famous writer in the world. In his childhood, he was small and sickly, so if he didn’t turn his mind to think in an optimistic way, it was hard for him to stand out in crowd. He had numerous essays, poems, and magazine contributions, but he wouldn’t succeed if he kept thinking that his life was unfortunate. However, Johnson always insisted that knowledge was useless unless it helped people live in the real world. At this point, we can see contradictory in his mind.
A word from Samuel Johnson’s dictionary:
Improbability: unlikelihood; difficulty to be believed
